On Monday afternoon, EC Bad Nauheim started its preparations for the 2025/26 season with its first training session on the ice in Frankfurt. The program not only included exercises, but also some important personal details and training content that will be important for the coming weeks. As the FNP reported that three players were missing from training, including the long-term injured Rik Gaidel and Christopher Fischer as well as Zach Kaiser, who followed the session from the video podium.
Coach Peter Russell urged consideration for the importance of feeling on the ice. Many players had no ice time during the summer break and now have to quickly get used to controlling the puck again. The training, which lasted 75 minutes and consisted of off-ice elements and video sessions, is just the start of an intensive preparation phase.
Foretaste of the test games
A special highlight will be the first test match against the upper league team Deggendorf at the CCM Cup in Crimmitschau on August 23rd. This tournament, that from the Ice Pirates Crimmitschau is organized, will take place from August 22nd to 24th, 2025 and will attract four teams: In addition to EC Bad Nauheim, the Selber Wölfe and Deggendorfer SC are also taking part. In the opening game, the Eispireten Crimmitschau will meet the Selber Wölfe on August 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
EC Bad Nauheim will meet Deggendorfer SC in the second semi-final the day after the opening, on August 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. The placement games will take place on August 24th, with an exciting final at 5:00 p.m. Another event, the “Eispiraten Village Party”, will also take place in Pölzig on the evening of August 23rd, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities.
Support from specialists
During the first training session, EC Bad Nauheim was also able to count on the support of assistant coach Marc Vorderbrüggen as well as former DEL players Cody Lampl and Henry Wellhausen. Lampl, who played in the DEL for Bremerhaven, Mannheim and Straubing between 2016 and 2024, brings a lot of experience as a coach. Guest players at the training session are Tim Hemr, a striker from the Kölner Haie U20 team, and Luis Üffing, who previously played for the Red Devils and is currently without a contract. There is also good news for the fans. Advance ticket sales for the duel between EC Bad Nauheim and Löwen Frankfurt on September 7th have already begun. And to further strengthen the fan connection, a fan talk will take place on Monday at 7:46 p.m. in the Colonel Knight Stadium, where coaches and players will answer questions from the fans.
