Golf with heart: 4,000 euros collected for children with cancer!

On September 16, 2025, an impressive charity golf tournament took place, organized by the Mondspritzers in Donauwörth. The proceeds from this tournament go to the “Glühwürmchen e.V.” association, which supports children with serious illnesses and cancer and their families. Rosemarie Schweyer, the association's chairwoman, explained during the event how the donated funds will be used to provide support to affected families and make difficult times easier for them. This commitment is all the more important because many children often have to miss out on the bright side of life due to their illnesses.

The day at the picturesque golf course was very popular. Golfers and guests present gave their best and also provided a spontaneous additional donation of 400 euros, which went into a donation box that was set up. In the spirit of transparency and responsibility, the Mondspritzer emphasize that the donations will be used specifically to provide private help without replacing public money.

Sporting success and community spirit

The board members Jürgen Sorré, Klaus Vater and Helmut Neureiter presented a symbolic donation check for an impressive 4,000 euros to Rosemarie Schweyer, while the entire field of participants gathered for a group photo in the idyllic courtyard of the golf course. After this celebratory moment, the awards ceremony took place, where not only the tournament winners were honored, but also various competitions such as “nearest to the pin” and “longest drive”.

  • Wettbewerb „nearest to the pin“:
    • Damen: Andrea Renz
    • Herren: Werner Hörmann
  • Wettbewerb „longest drive“:
    • Damen: Rußwurm Diane
    • Herren: Janik Habersatter (238 m)

The teams showed impressive performances, with the Suda and Appl team crowning the outstanding performance with first place. The other placements illustrate the high sporting level of the tournament:

Place team
1 Suda and Appl
2 Duo Marschik T. and Handke
3 Team Marschik and Marschik
4 Team Kobusch/Deget
5 Duo Stoklasa/Gabler

The event attracted players of all ages, from 14 to over 80, and ended with a convivial dinner on the golf club's terrace. There was a consensus among participants that the charity golf tournament should become a tradition to continue to shine a light into the lives of those who desperately need it.

Additional support for those affected

Support is not only provided through events like this golf tournament. Companies are also showing commitment: The HWK Schwaben has stopped sending Christmas cards and instead donated to Glühwürmchen e.V., which strengthens the community even more. These initiatives help to promote solidarity in difficult times and to support affected families.

In this context, digital support for sick children is particularly important. With the school avatar, the Children's Cancer Foundation offers an excellent opportunity for seriously and chronically ill children to participate in school despite their challenges. Equipped with a camera, loudspeaker and microphone, the school avatar allows you to join in live in class, whether from the clinic or from home.

It turns out that the solidarity and willingness to help in the region are strong. The events and initiatives, which come from the heart, show that no one is left alone. Information about the school avatar and other support offers can be found on the website Children's Cancer Foundation to find where equally affected parents can receive advice.
