Young woman seriously injured at community festival in Kösching – witnesses wanted!

At a community festival in Kösching that took place last Friday, a 22-year-old woman from the Eichstätt district was injured by a needle stick. The incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. on Untere Marktstrasse when the young woman was out with friends. Suddenly she felt a sharp pain in one part of her body, which then became noticeably red. She also complained of a headache, which made the situation seem serious. An emergency service was quickly on the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital for further examination, as Brennessel reports.

The Ingolstadt criminal police immediately took over the investigation and initiated proceedings against unknown persons. In this context, witnesses and possible other victims are asked to call 0841-93430 to shed light on the matter. The police are particularly interested in information from people who made unusual observations during the festival or who may have experienced similar incidents. If there are other people affected, the police would be grateful for information.

Context of crime in Germany

Police crime statistics show that violent crime in Germany will have reached a worrying peak in 2024. According to the BKA, the number of reported violent crimes rose by 1.5% to 217,277 cases. At the same time, there was an increase in the number of suspected children and young people. An increase of 9.3% was recorded in sex-related crimes. However, a decline in drug-related crime was made possible by the partial legalization of cannabis.

Since the needlestick injury occurred at a public event, this could possibly also be placed in the context of the general security situation in Germany. The clearance rate was around 58% in 2024, which highlights the challenges in fighting crime.

To ensure safety at public events, cooperation with the public is essential. That's why the police are calling again: Anyone who has information or has even been affected should not be afraid to contact the investigators.
