Art in focus: Red carpet connects stories in Eichstätt!
Things are becoming increasingly colorful and creative in Eichstätt! From then onJune 26thuntilOctober 31, 2025The Cathedral Treasure and Diocesan Museum invites you to the latest exhibition entitled“The Red Carpet”a. Artworks by fourteen art education students at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt are presented here. A “red carpet” will act as the central eye-catcher, symbolizing not only the color red, but also collective action and creative exchange.
The inspiration for these extraordinary works of art comes from the museum's famous Walburgis carpets. Each carpet tells its own story and reflects the different biographies of the students. What is exciting is that the students' designs were woven into a large-format tapestry - a real collaborative project that reflects the diversity of creative engagement.
Contact person for sustainable art
The exhibition is not only a feast for the eyes, but also part of the project Transformative Design Space(TDS). This innovative project promotes active participation of diverse groups and generations in artistic processes. The focus here is on workshops and discussions that promote artistic and craft skills as well as intercultural exchange.
Another interesting aspect of the exhibition is the conscious use of materials. The students only use used materials for their works, which underlines the sustainability of art practice. The project is supported by the Volkswagen Foundation, which wants to use this approach to develop creative ideas to promote sustainable action in everyday life.

The themes of the exhibition and the creative approaches also address global challenges such as climate change and overuse of resources, which underlines the relevance of art in our society today. A look into the future shows that this pattern will also appear in other initiatives like this Transform.NRWproject is taken up. A cooperation platform to promote sustainable transformation in North Rhine-Westphalia is being developed here, bringing together art, culture and science to work on solutions for a new culture of sustainability.
