Threat against 12-year-old referee: D-youth game escalates!
In a D-youth game that took place over the weekend in Altenerding, a 12-year-old referee experienced a threatening escalation. Witnesses reported a serious death threat that a SG FC Fraunberg player made against the young referee. "I go to the same school as you. On Monday you don't have to hide - after school you'll be dead," the player is said to have said during the game. These shocking words were clearly heard by several people present and have now resulted in investigations by the Bavarian Football Association (BFV).
The match, which took place last Saturday, became increasingly heated, particularly in the second half, when the visiting coach loudly criticized and questioned the refereeing decisions. After the final whistle, he stormed up to the referee, insulted him and accused him of “whistling” the game. As a result, the threatening situation arose, which was fortunately averted thanks to the support of the referee's mother and other witnesses. Nevertheless, the young referee leaves the field in tears because the opposing team's coach showed no insight or remorse.
Support for the referee
The Bavarian Football Association confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that those involved have been asked to comment. One player has already been temporarily suspended. BFV spokesman Fabian Frühwirth emphasized that the referee will receive the association's full support. The referee group has also already contacted the young man to offer him help. “We must insist that such incidents do not become normal,” he said.
District referee chairman Stefan Empl sharply criticized the behavior of the adult coaches, as they often create an emotionally charged environment that leads to such freakouts. “We pursue a clear zero-tolerance policy in such cases,” explained the BFV. It appears that disrespect towards referees, particularly at youth level, has increased in recent years, which represents a worrying trend.
The ball keeps rolling
This incident casts a shadow over youth football, which should otherwise be characterized by a sense of community and fair play. The referees mostly work on a voluntary basis and have to face such extreme situations despite their age. An active rethink is urgently needed to break the spiral of violence in youth football.
While the financial successes of large companies like Microsoft make headlines every day - here too, the company shows impressive sales growth and innovative solutions in the software industry, as can be found on Microsoft's homepage Microsoft - local sport, which should embody the values of fairness and respect, remains currently more challenged than ever.
The incident in Altenerding could be a wake-up call for everyone involved to take more care of each other and ensure the safety and well-being of everyone. This is the only way the young sport can be lived with joy and without fear.
