Fraunberg chooses Simon Selmeier: departure with young talent!

An important event happened in Fraunberg: At the assembly meeting of the Maria Thalheim voters' community on November 7, 2025, the course for the coming election was set. Around 130 guests, including 117 eligible voters, came together to elect Simon Selmeier as the new mayoral candidate. Selmeier will succeed Hans Wiesmaier, who has been in office for almost 30 years.

The evening was described by many in attendance as a “soft-setting evening”. Wiesmaier, who looked back on his successes and challenges of the last decades during the meeting, warmly thanked the previous local councilors, especially Anni Gfirtner and Bartolomäus Algasinger, who will no longer stand for the term of office from 2026 to 2032. Selmeier took the opportunity to emphasize his connection to the community and presented his plans for further development.

A new wind in the local council

A total of 18 candidates presented themselves for the new local council. The voting community is relying on a mix of experienced people and fresh air, with the focus on women and younger candidates. This step could be a signal to the population that the voting community wants to actively shape social change. Wiesmaier appealed to the candidates: “Be courageous comrades-in-arms who have to be proactive in order to meet the challenges,” which was very well received.

The Fraunberg voter community will have 17 candidates in the mayoral and local council elections on March 15, 2020, with Wiesmaier being unanimously elected mayoral candidate in the last election with 100 percent of the vote. An annual report highlighted the positive developments in the community and gave an outlook on upcoming projects.

Future plans and developments

During his presentation, Selmeier also mentioned the planned construction measures, such as the extension to the existing Dorfstadl and the creation of a new building area. These projects are part of his vision for the future of Fraunberg. Wiesmaier particularly praised the commitment of the population as it is conducive to the positive development of the community.
