Traffic chaos in Heroldsberg: fugitives wanted! Advice requested!
In the last few days there have been several incidents in and around Heroldsberg that are keeping the police on their toes. On October 30, 2025, three unknown people went from a black SUV to Spindäckerstrasse and Simmelberger Weg to inspect a parked car. As the local police station reports, the officers discovered accident damage to the vehicle, although it cannot be ruled out that this was caused by those present. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Erlangen-Land police station on 09131 / 98842-14.
A few days later, on November 1, 2025, another unauthorized absence from the scene of the accident in Marloffstein occurred. A car was hit between 5:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Atzelsberger Strasse, house number 14. The person who caused the accident ran away, which not only resulted in property damage, but could also have legal consequences. Here too, the police are looking for witnesses and are asking for information at the same telephone number.
Legal consequences of hit-and-run
Anyone who simply runs away after a traffic accident is guilty of fleeing. This is confirmed by the information from ADAC, which points out that a note on the windshield of a parked car is not enough to absolve oneself of responsibility. According to § 142 StGB, unauthorized removal from the scene of an accident is a criminal offense that can have significant consequences - from fines to points in Flensburg to a possible driving ban or the revocation of your driving license for at least six months.
Pedestrians and cyclists are also not exempt from this regulation. In the event of an accident, they also have to stay at the scene and wait for the injured party, otherwise they face similar legal consequences. The reporting of the Attorney Araz shows that fleeing a traffic accident not only has criminal consequences, but can also result in civil claims. Injured parties have the right to compensation even if the person responsible cannot be identified.
Damage is not the same as damage
Another incident that was reported to the police occurred between Friday and Saturday in Weisendorf. There, a container that was located near the Ochsenweihers between Reinersdorf and Weisendorf was broken into and ransacked. The windows were smashed and the damage caused amounts to around 1000 euros. The Herzogenaurach police are also looking for witnesses and are asking for information on Tel. 09132/7809-0.
These incidents clearly show how important it is to keep your eyes open and take responsibility when driving. Hit and run is a serious issue that affects not only those who caused the accident, but above all those who were injured. A good hand in the traffic situation not only ensures greater safety, but also ensures that possible legal problems do not arise in the first place.
