Seniors on a tour of discovery: Lebenshilfe Forchheim inspires!

The AG 60plus of the SPD district association Forchheim recently had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at Lebenshilfe Forchheim. During a visit to the organization's workshops, participants were given a comprehensive insight into the world of work and the wide range of services offered. Mr. Thomas Stilkerich, a committed representative of Lebenshilfe, led the group through the various facilities and provided detailed information about the 14 locations spread across the city and the district Wiesentbote reported.

Lebenshilfe Forchheim employs around 500 people, around 300 of whom work in the workshops where socially insured jobs are offered. These positions are carefully tailored to the needs and interests of the employees. The activities in the workshops include contract work for local companies, which not only offers employees meaningful work, but also access to a wide range of sports and educational opportunities, care and therapeutic services.

Insights into the workshops

The participants in the SPD visit were particularly impressed by the atmosphere in the workshops. They had the opportunity to visit the carpentry, wood assembly and metal workshop and gained a feel for the variety of activities on offer there. The positive response from the group speaks for the excellent work that is being done as part of Lebenshilfe.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to Mr. Stilkerich,” said one participant, who was visibly moved by the impressions. The commitment of the employees and the openness towards the visitors made the day a complete success.

Accessibility and social participation

A central aspect of Lebenshilfe's work is promoting accessibility in society. How on Life support As shown, access to public transport for people with disabilities is often still associated with hurdles. Although the legislature had stipulated that local public transport (ÖPNV) must be made barrier-free by January 1, 2022, this requirement has not yet been implemented across the board. There is still a lot to be done, especially when it comes to on-demand offerings, to ensure mobility for everyone.

In addition, the Euro key is another important aid for people with disabilities. This key gives authorized people access to disabled-accessible toilets across Europe. People who rely on such facilities have the opportunity to obtain such a key with appropriate authorization Forchheim explained.

Overall, the visit by AG 60plus shows how important it is to support the commitment of Lebenshilfe and similar organizations. The combination of professional workplaces and an integrative approach not only promotes the quality of life of employees, but is also worthwhile for society as a whole. There are great opportunities in creating a barrier-free environment - not only in working life, but also beyond.
