Hit and run and drugs: Police busy in Bamberg!
What is happening in Bamberg and the surrounding area? An exciting weekend is over and the police have some interesting incidents to report. On Sunday evening, shortly before midnight, there was a traffic accident on Coburger Straße in which a 19-year-old man from Hallstadt skidded his Golf. The vehicle spun on its own axis and collided with a parked BMW. This accident caused material damage of around 15,000 euros, and the person who caused the accident sustained minor injuries. Particularly critical: The police officers noticed drug-typical failure symptoms. A test confirmed cannabis consumption, which is why a blood sample was taken at the Bamberg Clinic, as the Wiesentbote reports.
But drivers aren't the only ones who keep the police busy. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, unknown perpetrators became active on Kunigundendamm. They scratched a blue Mercedes, causing damage of around 1,000 euros. Witnesses who have information about this incident should contact the Bamberg city police by phone at 0951/9129-210.
Looking for perpetrators
Another example of vandalism can be seen in Pettstadt, where a mailbox containing pyrotechnic objects was blown up on Halloween. The material damage caused amounts to around 500 euros. There was an accident in Geisfeld in which a 63-year-old pedestrian was slightly injured when a car hit her and the driver fled. He was described as an older man, around 70 years old, tall and slim. The Bamberg-Land police station will accept information about this.
But there was news not only in the area of vandalism and traffic. A 28-year-old man from Leipzig was discovered during a vehicle check in Reckendorf on Sunday. He was wanted on a warrant. The police discovered that his vehicle, a Cupra Formentor, was considered embezzled. The man had a choice: either pay 500 euros or go to prison - a clear announcement!
Car and traffic accidents en masse
The local streets apparently weren't very friendly on Sunday. For example, another accident occurred on the A70 near Hallstadt in which a 25-year-old man collided his Seat with an unknown vehicle, which then fled. The damage amounted to around 500 euros. A 44-year-old who mistook his brake for the accelerator in Ebermannstadt also caused around 1,000 euros in accident damage.
In Bamberg, a 52-year-old Mercedes driver who was behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level of 2.16 was also stopped. Here too, blood samples were taken and the driver's license was secured. It remains to be hoped that such incidents will bring about understanding and that road safety will again come to the fore. During the hopefully quiet Advent season, citizens can be more relaxed again.
