Literary autumn in Freising: readings and exhibitions await!
The anticipation is increasing: the “Literary Autumn” of the Modern Studio association is just around the corner and will cause quite a stir in Freising in November. With an exciting program that includes a variety of readings, school events and even a picture book exhibition, the event offers a lot for literature enthusiasts to discover. The opening will take place on Thursday, November 6th at 7 p.m. in the Old Prison - an extraordinary location for a literary event!
What should you think about? The first reading will take place on Monday, November 3rd, at 8 p.m., in the Lindenkeller Oberhaus. Under the protective roof of the Puste bookstore, those interested can look forward to guest Martin Walker. The renowned writer, historian and political journalist is best known for his “Bruno, Chef de police” crime series, set in the picturesque Périgord region of France. This exciting author has been preparing for his journey through words for a whole year. Admission to the first reading costs 15 euros in advance in the bookstore on Obere Hauptstrasse.
A colorful program
On Thursday, November 13th, at 8 p.m., Annegret Liepold will present her debut novel “Under Ground” in the Old Prison. This gripping novel highlights the rise of young people in the neo-Nazi scene and takes a critical look at current social issues. Another highlight will be on Saturday, November 15th, when Jaroslav Rudiš will read from “Instructions for Train Travel” in the Puste bookstore. Here the author talks about his fascination with train travel and shares his personal experiences around stations and routes in Europe.
The Literary Autumn will be rounded off on Thursday, November 27th, with a reading by Christian Mitzenbacher. He presents his debut novel “Knallkrebse” at the Camerloh high school, which is about the moving friendship between a 16-year-old refugee from Afghanistan and a physics doctoral student. A whole spectrum of topics is presented to the audience!
The picture book exhibition
The exhibition as part of the “Literary Autumn” will be dedicated to the talented illustrator Linda Wolfsgruber. The South Tyrolean, who lives in Vienna, is known for her poetic-philosophical illustrations, which impressively address people and nature. Using her diverse and experimental techniques, she creates works that have been published in a total of 17 languages. As already mentioned, the opening will take place on November 6th at 7 p.m. and the exhibition will then be open in the Old Prison from Friday to Sunday.
Entry to the exhibition is free, which is sure to attract many art lovers. The old prison in Freising will become a true center of literature and art and shows how lively and diverse the cultural landscape is in our region.
