Mother of six children found dead in Krailling – husband arrested
In a tragic incident in Krailling, a town in the Starnberg district, the body of a 29-year-old woman was found. The police believe it was a violent crime because the circumstances of the death appear violent. On Saturday afternoon, residents alerted officers after seeing a bleeding man on Gautinger Street. When checking the apartment, the police officers found the dead woman, who appears to be the wife of the bleeding man. The 36-year-old husband was then arrested under strong suspicion and will be brought before a judge on Sunday, as Merkur reports.
The criminal police from Fürstenfeldbruck have taken over the investigation and are carrying out extensive forensic measures at the crime scene. The Munich II public prosecutor's office has also ordered an autopsy of the body to clarify the exact circumstances of the death. What is particularly alarming about the incident is that the woman is the mother of six children, whose ages range from 4 to 10 years. These have now been taken into the care of the Starnberg Youth Welfare Office.
Context to violent crime
Fortunately, violent crimes are still relatively rare in Germany; they account for less than 4% of all recorded crimes. Nevertheless, they have a profound impact on the population's sense of security. This type of crime includes serious crimes such as murder, assault and robbery. According to current statistics, around 217,000 violent crimes were recorded in 2024, marking the highest number since 2007. After a low point during the corona pandemic, the number of violent crimes has been rising again since 2021. The [Statista](https://de.statista.com/themen/11062/ criminalitaet-in-deutschland-violentcrime/) shows that around 94% of Germans consider violence against political, police and emergency services personnel to be a major problem.
The reasons for the increase in violent crime could be economic insecurities and social pressures, as the BKA states. The current challenges also include the increasing number of young violent criminals; a third of the suspects are younger than 21 years old. Events like the fatal incident in Krailling illustrate the dark side of human interaction and the challenges our society faces.
