Women's shelter in the city center: new shelters against violence opened!

In the city center of Fürth there is now a breath of fresh air for women and children affected by violence. The former women's shelter has been successfully transformed and is now a place of hope and support. With a central location that makes it easier to access women in need, an important step has been taken towards a stronger connection to the social environment. Fürth.de reports that the address of the facility is publicly known, which puts an end to the hiding of such an offer, as described by managing director Eva Göttlein.

Mayor Thomas Jung was pleased with this progress and said that although it was sad that such facilities were necessary, it was good that they existed. Together with District Administrator Bernd Obst, they signed a new cooperation agreement with the sponsoring association Frauenhaus Fürth. A security concept was implemented in the newly renovated late Baroque monument ensemble, which includes, among other things, security gates and a special locking system. Dette ensures that the safety of users is the top priority.

Safe spaces for women and children

The new premises not only offer safety, but also comfort: ten places for women and up to 14 places for children are now available. In addition, the rooms are barrier-free and barrier-free. The center also houses a specialist advice and intervention center as well as the “Second Stage” support offer. The latter aims to make it easier for women to transition into a self-determined life. This is supported by the counselors who work with a proactive approach and respond to the needs of the clients.

Another highlight of the facility is the intervention center, which has been operating in cooperation with the Fürth and Fürth district police departments since 2015. This office offers quick help for women who experience domestic violence or are being stalked by ex-partners. Frauenhaus-Fuerth.de offers confidential telephone or personal advice and informs women about their options for quickly receiving support in crisis situations.

Support that arrives

A key feature of this initiative is contact within three working days of a police report, provided the women concerned have given their consent. The aim is to reach those who do not seek help on their own. After three consultations, clients who need further support are transferred to a specialist advice center, where they continue to be supported by their permanent contact person in the same premises.

With these measures, the city of Fürth shows that it has a good knack for supporting those affected by violence. The new women's shelter is more than just a shelter - it is a place where women and children can find the support they need to change their situation and shape a positive future.
