Sparkasse Oberland chooses the best projects for sustainability!

On November 7th, 2025, the atmosphere in Sparkasse Oberland was something very special. The reason: the awarding of the Sustainability Prize, which went to outstanding sustainable and social initiatives for the second time. A total of an ambitious 20,000 euros was distributed, with the amounts varying between 1,000 and 4,000 euros reports the Mercury.

The period for submitting projects was from July 15th to August 29th, giving many non-profit organizations and associations from the Weilheim-Schongau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen districts the opportunity to present their ideas. Of 32 applications submitted, 29 met the eligibility requirements. An exciting voting via Instagram, which ran for two weeks from September 15th, finally decided which ten projects should be honored.

The winners in detail

The jury members, including District Administrator Andrea Jochner Weiß and Christiane Regauer from EWO, had the not so easy task of selecting the best projects. And these are the results:

  • Platz 1 (4.000 Euro): Fischereiverein Mittenwald oberes Isartal – Zur Reduzierung der Verlandung des Schmalensees mit einem Spezialmittel.
  • Platz 2 (3.500 Euro): Katholische Pfarrkirchenstiftung St. Johannes Baptist Wessobrunn – Obstgarten und Pflanzung alter Birnensorten.
  • Platz 3 (3.000 Euro): BJV Kreisgruppe Garmisch-Partenkirchen – „Freiluftklassenzimmer“ zur Natur- und Jagdvermittlung.
  • Platz 4 (2.000 Euro): TSV Partenkirchen Radsport – Trainingsareal unter der Hausbergbahn.
  • Plätze 5 bis 7 (jeweils 1.500 Euro):
    • Montessori-Fördergemeinschaft Penzberg – Gesunde Mahlzeiten aus regionalen Produkten.
    • Wirkwerk Weilheim – Entwicklung von Upcycling-Ideen.
    • Heinrich Campendonk Realschule Penzberg – Installation eines Balkonkraftwerks.
  • Plätze 8 bis 10 (jeweils 1.000 Euro):
    • Sportclub Böbing – Energieeinsparungen durch LED-Strahler und Lichtsteuerung.
    • Initiative Integration Schongau – Deutschnachhilfe für Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund.
    • Wasserwacht Penzberg/Iffeldorf – Nistkästen für Gartenvögel.

After the award ceremony, a standing reception took place where representatives of the award-winning projects had the opportunity to exchange ideas and gather inspiration. Such events not only promote cooperation, but also a sense of community in the region.

With this initiative, Sparkasse Oberland shows how important social responsibility and sustainable projects are. A good step in the right direction that promotes both environmental protection and social commitment. We can only hope that these positive examples find many imitators!
