Söder's daughter embarrasses herself: Kohl and Adenauer not recognized!

Gloria-Sophie Burkandt, the daughter of CSU leader Markus Söder, is making sensational headlines on German television. She is currently taking part in the controversial show “Germany's Dummest Celebrity”, in which prominent candidates compete against each other in sometimes bizarre challenges. In the third episode of the show, which aired recently, Burkandt caused a stir when she failed to recognize two of the most famous German politicians: Helmut Kohl and Konrad Adenauer. Frankenpost reports, that her confusion about Kohl, who was chancellor from 1982 to 1998, was because she incorrectly assumed that he was a social democrat, which she attributed to his tie.

What is noteworthy is that Burkandt not only confused the names of these two politicians, but also tried to keep her emotions in check during the show. When she described how Kohl had “very warm eyes” compared to her grandfather, her insecurity became obvious. Express reported, that Burkandt was even close to tears at the end and expressed the desire to leave the show, but at the same time felt trapped.

A challenging show

In the third episode, there were six celebrities in the competition: Gülcan Kamps, Alessia Herren, Calvin Kleinen, Mario Basler, Manni Ludolf and Gloria-Sophie Burkandt. The latter had difficulties with mental arithmetic and failed the simple task “32 plus 39”. Burkandt didn't know that she had to answer the politicians' questions after losing a mental arithmetic duel against Mario Basler. Frankenpost informed, that her last unanswered question was the distance of a penalty kick in football, which she incorrectly stated as 30 meters.

The logic round provided further thrills as the celebrities had to open a locked door within two minutes. While Manni Ludolf managed to do this, Burkandt and Basler were left behind. In the oral exam, Ludolf demonstrated his strength by solving five questions correctly, while Burkandt was only able to answer three questions. Her performance was critically observed by the entire group, and Gülcan Kamps, who recognized all the politicians, completed the show with flying colors.

Emotional rollercoaster

The emotional rollercoaster rides of the candidates are experienced up close by the audience. This episode particularly showed how difficult the challenges of the show are for some participants. Burkandt even said that she didn't think she would make it this far. Despite all the hurdles, she has remained on the show so far and will continue to take part in the fourth episode. It remains to be seen how it will fare in the coming challenges.

The spectators are curious to see whether Markus Söder's daughter can collect more points in the next rounds and whether the challenges will become less challenging for her. It is conceivable that their uncertainties on political issues will soon be a thing of the past - after all, every candidate has their learning phase at some point.
