TheCapella de la Torre, founded in Berlin in 2005 by the talented oboist and shawm specialist Katharina Bäuml, specializes in the fascinating brass music of the early modern period. The ensemble has always managed to delight its broad audience with authentic sounds and virtuoso playing style. Its name, “de la Torre”, refers to the Spanish composer Francisco de la Torre, who created “Danza Alta” for wind instruments in the 16th century. In addition, the name also has a deep historical meaning, as brass groups often played “from the tower” in the past, which made the musical experience even more unique Kaufbeuren cultural ring reported.
An evening full of musical diversity

Listeners can look forward to a program that not only impresses with its authenticity, but also with the musicians' joy in playing. It will be a pleasure for the layperson and the connoisseur alike to immerse themselves in the world of brass music.
As far as the collection of instruments is concerned, the tradition of theAlta capellareflects how it emerged in Europe towards the end of the Middle Ages. Inspired by similar groups in the Arab world, this historic collection consisted of various wind instruments such as the shawm, pomeranian and slide trumpet, such as the Deutschlandfunk explained. These ensembles performed at courtly festivals and in churches and were part of the sonic experience of urban celebrations for centuries.
