ATSV Kelheim starts preparations with two new additions!

ATSV Kelheim started preparing for the 2025/26 season of the Lower Bavaria West season today. On Monday the players met on the pitch to set the course for a successful season. Sporting director Christian Gottschalk was satisfied with a quiet transition to the season as the team largely stayed together. Only one player, Serkan Corakcioglu, has left the club and is moving to A-class club FC Kelheim.

The Kelheimers are starting the new season with a breath of fresh air in the team. Two new arrivals introduce themselves: the experienced attacker Stephan König, who most recently worked as an assistant coach at SC Eintracht Freising, and midfielder Thomas Riegelsberger, who returns from TSV Altmannstein. These reinforcements could prove to be powerful additions to the team.

Preparatory games

The test match program promises exciting encounters, as ATSV Kelheim will compete with teams from higher leagues:

  • 21. Juni: SV Töging (17 Uhr)
  • 27. Juni: SV Fortuna Regensburg (Bayernligist, 18.30 Uhr)
  • 3. Juli: TV Parsberg (Bezirksliga Oberpfalz Süd, 18.30 Uhr)
  • 6. Juli: SpVgg Ramspau (Bezirksliga Oberpfalz Süd, 17 Uhr)
  • 12. Juli: SpVgg Landshut (Landesligist, 14 Uhr)

Coach Jürgen Schmid and assistant coach Kamil Hein are entering their second season and will do everything they can to confirm fifth place from last season. An important goal is to establish ourselves in the top third of the table after a season with 48 points, 13 wins, 9 draws and 8 defeats. The most successful goalscorer was Nico Pollmann with 13 goals in 24 games.

ATSV II and the passion for amateur football

The ATSV second team will also operate independently in the Kelheim district class after the syndicate with Sportfreunde Essing was dissolved. Coach Sascha Hoffmann has set himself the goal of securing relegation. The preparation of the second team begins on Saturday, with the first test match on June 26th against SV Breitenbrunn II.

Amateur football is increasingly being promoted within the DFB. The associations and districts are involved in organizing gaming operations, offering educational opportunities and supporting the promotion of talent in the youth sector. The focus is on creating synergies and supporting the clubs. Projects like the amateur football master plan show that there is a lot of movement here. Financial resources are made available for the development and promotion of football at the grassroots level in order to help the clubs and improve the general conditions. The DFB has increased its annual budget for supporting amateur clubs to 13 million euros in a bid to make real progress.

In this exciting season, ATSV Kelheim fans will certainly be excited to see how the team performs and whether the new players can successfully implement their ideas. So let’s stay tuned and get excited!
