SV Kelheim-Gmünd II narrowly loses: catch-up is imminent!
The second team from SV Kelheim-Gmünd didn't get the ball rolling in the 2nd Air Pistol Bundesliga South. In their latest competition, the shooters lost to the Adlerschützen Unteriglbach with 2:3. The final score of the rings was 1824 to 1826, as mittelbayerische.de reports. Coach Sebastian Humbs still sees rays of hope and remains optimistic for the coming competitions.
Gmünd II is currently in tenth place in the table with 2:8 points. They are tied on points with SV Waldkirch II and SG Edelweiß Scheuring II and have a record of 10:15 in the individual rankings. This is certainly not the result for which the club, which was founded in Kelheim in 1952 and competes in the 1st Bundesliga air pistol, is known for.
Sensitive encounters
In the encounter in question, Miriam Piechaczek, who returned to the team after four competitions, was in first place, but was narrowly defeated by Christian Popelka (360:370). Tobias Meyer lost to Johannes Schauer in second place (371:376). On November 16th, the shooters will first compete against Waldkirch at 11 a.m. and then compete against SG 1928 Glattbach at 2:45 p.m. Further competitions are scheduled for November 30th and January 4th at the Höhenhof performance center.
Tradition and backgrounds
Since its founding, SV Kelheim-Gmünd has established itself as an important part of German shooting sports. The club, which has won several German championship titles in the 1st Bundesliga air pistol over the years, is not only active in the highest league, but is also present with its second team in the 2nd Bundesliga. The second team has also achieved championships and placements several times, which underlines the passion and commitment of the members even more. The well-known athletes in the club include Damir Mikec and Monika Karsch, who give the shooting sport a face.
In the league itself, the 1st Bundesliga air pistol, a total of 24 teams compete, which are divided into two groups. The competitions consist of 40 shots at a distance of 10 meters, and there are clear rules for awarding points. A win brings two points, while a defeat leaves you without a point. The competitions are also known for ending in a knockout system, which makes every match a highlight.
The coming competitions will show whether SV Kelheim-Gmünd II finally gets going. But one thing is certain: the shooters are paying close attention to their development and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.
