Big anniversary: 100 years of Neuses Trombone Choir celebrates with a concert!
On May 18, 2025, the Neuses am Berg trombone choir will celebrate its 100th anniversary, and the anticipation in the region is palpable. The small wine town in the Kitzingen district becomes the center of musical encounters. The well-known Idinger Karl Prappacher did not miss this occasion and was invited to the celebrations. A colorful mix of events is offered, including a festive concert on the town hall square, which attracts more than 150 wind players from Protestant and Catholic choirs and brass groups in the area. Schwäbische reports lively greetings from politicians, including from Mayor Matthias Bielek and District Administrator Tamara Bischof, who underlined the importance of the choir for the community.
In order to properly celebrate the anniversary, a fully organized trip to Neuses am Berg was planned. On the morning of the festival, the day starts at 9 a.m. with a service in the Evangelical St. Nikolai Church led by Pastor Uli Vogel. Afterwards, visitors enjoy a concert by the Isinger people and typical local delicacies such as “Bratwurst with sauerkraut” and “Blue Zipfel”. In the evening, the real highlight awaits the guests: a performance of Christian and secular music at the “Westal Stier”, followed by a wine tasting with a social gathering. The trombone choir would like to bring together 100 brass players for the anniversary, and over 130 brass players from different locations took part, which ensured a positive response from the listeners.
Celebrations and honors
The supporting program of the two-day festival is extensive. To celebrate the day, a commemorative publication was presented, which was very well received. What is particularly noteworthy is that the former choir director Heinrich Stier entered into a bet with Pastor Vogel - with the stake that the latter would hand over two trumpets for the young wind players' work. This shows the spirit of community and commitment that characterizes the Neuses Trombone Choir and aims to preserve the tradition for future generations.
Another highlight is coming up on July 13, 2025, when a big concert will take place at the “Kirchgartenfest”, which will be led by the deanery cantor Martin Blaufelder. Anyone interested is warmly invited to this; further information can be found on the channels of the Protestant parishes in the region. In the meantime, the trombone choirs from the surrounding deaneries have also formed to take part in the musical work. A new morning brass group was founded in 2024, which invites members of trombone choirs from the deaneries of Kitzingen, Castell and Markt Einersheim to the open group, which further strengthens the musical network. Further details can be found at Kitzingen Evangelisch.
The trombone choir is not only part of the historical development of the wine town of Neuses, but also a lively part of cultural life in the region. The positive feedback and the large participation in the anniversary events are living proof of the close connection between the brass players and the community. Anyone who would like to participate or is interested is invited to join the trombone choir and share the joy of music.
