Severe weather in Bavaria: Heavy rain and thunderstorms up to 100 km/h awaited!

On Sunday, June 18, 2025, the Bavarian citizens are standing in front of a dramatic turn in the weather. The temperatures climb to summer values ​​between 26 and 32 degrees, but the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of thunderstorms that will open in the afternoon and evening from a west direction. Whether this is a good time for an excursion remains questionable!

The warning of the DWD should not be underestimated. Heavy rain of up to 25 liters per square meter per hour could cloud the sunny minds, and in some regions even precipitation of up to 40 liters per square meter is possible. The whole thing is fueled by gusts of wind that can reach speeds of 85 km/h, and evenly target up to 100 km/h.

In addition, the east of Bavaria and the Alpine regions is not on the safe side: In the night of Monday, the night of Monday, heavy rain of up to 60 liters per square meter is expected. The current thunderstorms apply until 11:30 p.m. for several counties, including Neuburg-Schrobenhausen and Augsburg, as well as districts such as Donau-Ries and Aichach-Friedberg. On Saturday, June 14th, the highest temperature of the year was recorded in Kitzingen at 35.5 degrees - a high that is now being replaced by thunderstorms and storms.

It gets particularly serious in the Neu-Ulm and Unterallgäu districts: Here the severe weather warning (warning level red) applies due to severe thunderstorms with violent heavy rain and hail. Warnings were also extended to Kaufbeuren, Oberallgäu and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. So it is worth pursuing the current weather reports.

Monday subsequently offers little improvement: cloudy views with possible showers remain in which the maximum values ​​are between 20 and 25 degrees. On Tuesday, on the other hand, we can hope for more sunshine - but with temperatures that can climb up to 28 degrees on the Untermain. So a change in the weather is in sight, but the first half of the week could be strongly influenced by the thunderstorms.
