THW Forchheim has a new course: Tobias Saffer is taking the helm!

An exciting change has taken place in the Technical Relief Agency (THW) in Forchheim. 31-year-old Tobias Saffer takes over as the new local representative and brings a breath of fresh air to the local association. “I grew up with the THW,” says Saffer, who now wants to use his passion as a leader. In his new role, he faces several challenges that he wants to overcome with a strong team, with a focus on training and integrating new members. Last but not least, this goes hand in hand with the effort to make volunteering more attractive and to attract more people to THW. The Fraenkischer Tag reports.

Numerous reports and personal experiences with the organization show how important volunteering at THW is. One article describes the uncomplicated entry of a new member, who contacts the Bamberg regional office directly and is quickly invited to a personal appointment. During a visit to the Forchheim local association, at that time still under the leadership of Saffer as deputy local representative, those interested were able to take a comprehensive tour of the site. There were vehicle halls, special vehicles, workshops, technology containers and training rooms on display. This structured and open atmosphere allowed the new members to ask questions and gain a good insight into the THW's expertise, which is used in areas such as power supply, pumps and logistics. The Hamburger Blatt adds.

Insights into training

The conversations with Saffer and his team emphasized that joining THW doesn't have to overwhelm anyone. Previous technical knowledge or perfect fitness are not prerequisites for joining. Rather, the willingness and courage to take the first step are crucial. The guiding principle is clear: everyone can help if they have no doubts about their own commitment.

The basic training that the new members undergo covers many relevant topics. This includes the operational procedures and organization in the THW, the legal aspects and also insurance issues, which are important in order to be able to carry out volunteer work in the long term. Tobias Saffer will be responsible for this training together with his team and wants to ensure that all new members are optimally prepared.

The report about getting started and the opportunities at THW is the start of a multi-part report. Future editions will highlight topics such as basic training, training services and the THW specialist groups. Readers can look forward to exciting insights and follow how the THW and its members will develop further.

With fresh ideas and a clear course, Tobias Saffer will lead the Forchheim local branch of the THW into a promising future. It will be exciting to see how volunteer work develops under his leadership and what new paths can be taken.
