Dense fog in Bavaria: DWD warns of visibility below 100 meters!

The high pressure area “Urmi” is currently active on the weather front in Bavaria and is causing mild temperatures, but also thick fog in various districts. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a corresponding weather warning that is valid from Friday evening to Saturday morning. Especially in the Danube region and the northern Alpine foothills, drivers should expect visibility that can sometimes be less than 100 meters. This particularly affects river basins and valleys, where the fog spreads particularly heavily. Affected districts include the city and district of Augsburg, Unterallgäu, Ostallgäu and many others. The warnings are listed in detail here: Augsburger Allgemeine reports that this could be a challenge for drivers, which is why the DWD recommends adjusting the speed. The warning is in effect until 8am on Saturday November 1st.

What awaits us after the fog? On Saturday, All Saints Day, the forecast calls for a clear improvement in the weather. As the fog clears, more sun than clouds is expected. However, it will remain rather cloudy in Franconia, where rain is possible during the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will be between 12 and 19 degrees, while it will cool down to 11 to 7 degrees at night.
