Running challenge City Country on Foot”: Take part and collect kilometers!

The bear is dancing in the Main-Spessart area, because the movement campaign “City and Country on Foot” is taking place from November 1st to 21st. This initiative has established itself as a real highlight to give citizens an incentive to move more, especially in the cooler months. As Radio Gong reports, over 200 participants have already registered, including 28 teams. The goal is to cover as many kilometers as possible in these three weeks - be it jogging, walking, hiking or simply taking the dog for a daily walk.

Last year the event was already a great success: Over 400 runners covered the impressive distance of almost 39,000 kilometers together and achieved an excellent sixth place in Germany. The running challenge is reminiscent of the popular city cycling, where you also collect kilometers. The kilometers collected are recorded in the “Stadt Land zu Fuß” app and documented on a central website. People of all ages and fitness levels are invited to take part – a great opportunity for everyone to exercise together.

Set an example for health

Registrations run until November 21st via the website www.stadtlandzufuss.de. It is important to increase motivation to exercise and set a strong example for a healthy life. The initiators are delighted with the lively participation and have big plans: the district would like to move up to one of the top places in the national ranking. Main Spessart strives to exceed the successes of the previous year.

The best three individuals and the three best teams will be rewarded with vouchers and non-cash prizes. In addition, the best school and the best kindergarten group receive a special honor - this also brings the topic of exercise closer to the next generation. The prizes are sponsored by partners such as Sparkasse Mainfranken Würzburg, Raiffeisenbank Main-Spessart and AOK.

Movement for everyone!

The positive effects of regular exercise are numerous and well documented. According to that Federal Ministry of Health This includes reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, strengthening the immune system and having positive effects on mental health. The WHO recommends adults engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. Children should even be active for at least 60 minutes every day. In this sense, the three weeks of “City Country on Foot” are ideal for achieving these exercise goals.

Now it's time to lace up your sports shoes and take on the challenge. Whether alone or in a team, every kilometer counts and can help to promote and actively shape a healthy lifestyle. Join us and show how much fun exercise can be!
