No benefit concert in Memmingen: Why the Mountain Music Corps is canceled!

There is unfortunate news for all music lovers in Memmingen: There will be no benefit concert by the Bundeswehr Mountain Music Corps this year. The reason for the cancellation is a concert tour by the ensemble in Southeast Asia. However, planning for 2026 is already in full swing.

How Mercury reports, the Tourist Information has already received numerous requests for tickets. The next benefit concert is scheduled for October 21, 2026. The proceeds from the cards benefit social projects in Memmingen's twin cities, a cause that is very important to the citizens and the city.

A concert for the hearts

Despite the current cancellation, the Bundeswehr Mountain Music Corps was celebrated in September in the Memmingen town hall with a magnificent concert for 700 listeners. The evening was led by Lieutenant Colonel Karl Kriner, who presented a varied program that greatly impressed the audience. The concert began with the piece “We present” by Hans Ailbout and then offered the overture to the opera “If I were King” by Adolphe Adam.

Also worthy of note is the performance of Sergeant Meike Tappert (flute) and Sergeant Bettina Peschanel (bassoon), who impressively performed the “Duetto Concertato” based on themes by Giuseppe Verdi. Another highlight of the evening was the medley of ABBA hits, as well as solo performances by Sergeant Leonhard Breith (clarinet) and Benjamin Stanger (vibraphone).

The concert concluded with the “Greetings from Upper Bavaria” march, which invited everyone present to clap and sway along. Mayor Manfred Schilder and the mayor of Chernihiv, Vladyslav Atroshenko, welcomed the audience with warm words and thanked the music corps for the wonderful evening. Lieutenant Colonel Kriner also promised to continue the tradition and come back to Memmingen next autumn, which will certainly generate great interest Memmingen.de reported.

The cancellation of the benefit concert may be disappointing, but the memories of the last performances and the anticipation for next year remain. May the music continue to sound in Memmingen and bring people together!
