New disaster control center in Memmingen: Safety in focus!

A new disaster protection center opened its doors today in the North industrial area in Memmingen. Representatives of all emergency services organizations as well as those responsible for civil protection from the Swabian government were present at the opening. Mayor Jan Rothenbacher welcomed the new premises and highlighted the crucial advantages for organizations in the event of a disaster. The center is intended to serve as a central contact point for aid organizations so that they can react quickly and efficiently in an emergency.

The new premises include modern meeting rooms that can be used free of charge by the aid organizations. Andreas Land, head of the Fire and Disaster Protection Office, also explained the logistics of the new storage facility. With a storage area of 980 square meters and 11 rows of shelves that offer space for 600 pallets, the conditions for efficient material storage have been created.

Modern equipment for disaster control

An important innovation is the implementation of a digital warehouse program. This makes it easier to manage the stored materials, which include sandbags, pumps and emergency generators. This allows the city to better coordinate the procurement of consumer goods, which is crucial in major disasters.

For optimal security and functionality, the building is equipped with a modern locking system as well as a burglar and fire alarm system. The lighting has also been made more efficient. An emergency power supply and a redundant internet connection will be provided by the end of the year. This will be particularly useful in crisis situations.

Investments and use of spaces

The city of Memmingen has invested around 400,000 euros in expanding the center. The center is used exclusively by aid organizations, so it is not a contact point for the population. In addition to the warehouse, there are also 300 square meters of office space, which is equipped with modern technology such as computers, radio and smart boards. This means that organizations are well equipped to plan and carry out operations efficiently.

In summary, it can be seen that the new disaster control center in Memmingen is a significant step for the city's security infrastructure and that the cooperation between aid organizations in the region will be significantly improved.
