Ryanair brings Oktoberfest visitors to Memmingen: 60,000 flights planned!

The anticipation for the largest folk festival in the world is increasing because... Munich Oktoberfest 2025 starts on September 20th. The first guests will already be flocking to Theresienwiese, and many international visitors are expected. Ryanair has prepared for the Oktoberfest season and offers over 60,000 seats for flights to Memmingen - an ideal port of call for Austrian and southern European travelers.

Memmingen is trendy as “Munich West Airport”. The airport will be served with over 240 weekly flights in the coming weeks, with Ryanair attracting interested guests from Spain, Italy and Croatia with clout. A booking analysis shows that 28% of travelers come from Spain, followed by Italy with 20% and Croatia, which accounts for 9% B4B Swabians reported.

Arrival to the Oktoberfest

Getting from Memmingen to Theresienwiese in Munich is easy. By car it takes about an hour and 15 minutes. If you prefer to use the train, you should expect a travel time of around one hour and 35 minutes. This makes Memmingen a cheap alternative to the often overloaded airports in Munich, which is a big plus for many travelers.

Oktoberfest is known for its traditional atmosphere and attracts more than six million visitors every year. The Events offer a colorful program: from the official tapping in the Schottenhamel tent to parades with traditional costumes to family days that take place on Tuesdays. Visitors can look forward to culinary delights and a wide range of rides.

Practical tips

A visit to the Oktoberfest requires a little preparation. Cash is essential as many stalls do not accept cards and large bags are not allowed. Prices for meals vary between 10 and 20 euros, and a budget of 100 to 150 euros per day should be expected. A pint of beer costs around 12 euros, which should also be carefully calculated here.

To fully experience Oktoberfest, we recommend arriving early - especially on weekends when reservations for the beer tents fill up quickly. The Theresienwiese, a 42-hectare festival site in the heart of Munich, is best reached by public transport. Stops such as Goetheplatz and Schwanthalerhöhe are nearby.

For many, visiting Oktoberfest will be an unforgettable experience. With a male contingent in traditional costumes from dirndls to lederhosen, a large number of international guests and the promised fun on the Theresienwiese, it is a unique sight that goes far beyond the enjoyment of beer.
