The Neuburg Castle Festival, which is celebrated on the last weekend of June and first weekend of July, caused a stir this year with a very special hands-on activity. From June 2nd to 16th, 2025, around 500 citizens took part in a traditional search game that was intended to strengthen the connection to local retail and the anticipation of the festival. The best thing about it? Not only was it fun for everyone, but it also brought with it tangible prizes.

What exactly was this fun about? The participants had to match various utensils related to the castle festival to the windows of 20 different shops. This type of interaction not only promoted community spirit, but also the creativity of businesses who wanted to present themselves in festive garb. With this campaign, Stadtmarketing Neuburg aims to integrate the city center into the traditional event and shows how lively the town center remains through such events.

Award ceremony in the castle courtyard

The award ceremony took place ceremoniously in the picturesque castle courtyard of Neuburg. The winners could look forward to prizes ranging from a weekend ticket and tickets for both festival weekends to a 60 euro food voucher and a castle festival bag. But that wasn't all. Two pins and two castle festival books were also among the rewards for the hard-working participants.

For the first time this year, the most beautiful shop window was also honored in order to promote creative design in the castle festival style. This special honor went to the Blickfang optical store, which prevailed against the competition with its successful concept. The population is really looking forward to the castle festival, and such activities demonstrate the close connection between local trade and the history and tradition of the city.

A celebration full of highlights

The castle festival itself is a Renaissance festival that takes place every two years in Neuburg an der Donau. In the middle of the historic old town, visitors can enjoy a colorful program that is reminiscent of Count Palatine Ottheinrich. The highlights include the Steckenreiter dance in the castle courtyard, an impressive parade and a fabulous fireworks display over the Danube, accompanied by the sounds of Paul Winter. The Schlossfest is not only a celebration of local history, but also a reason to celebrate and linger in the city.
