Schools in the district collect bottle caps for children in need!

What's new from Neuburg-Schrobenhausen? A great project has been brewing: students from 28 schools in the region collected no less than 6.11 tons of bottle caps and metal screw caps in the first half of the year. This impressive initiative, which was launched for the children's aid association “Sternstunden”, not only brought together a large volume of material, but also generated proceeds of 611 euros. The amount of 100 euros per ton is donated directly and thus benefits children in need. [Donaukurier].

But how did this idea actually come about? Benedikt Häckl from Pobenhausen is sitting in the car, listening to a report on the radio about the “Sternstunden” association and has a flash of inspiration. “Why not mobilize the students?” he thinks. His vision was to collect bottle caps over a period of several months and then sell them. This turns supposed waste into valuable support for children in need. [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/neuburg/neuburg-schrobenhausen-spendenaktion-an-neuburger-schulen-kronkorken-fuer-die-kinder-in-not-103075755) quotes Häckl, who also points out that bottle caps should generally end up in the yellow bag, but this often ends up in nature if they are left unattended.

Diverse support and next steps

Eleven schools involved, eleven chances to do good: The elementary schools Neuburg Ost, Königsmoos, in the English Garden, as well as the Descartes and the Neuburg high schools, the high school and the Maria-Ward secondary school in Schrobenhausen as well as several elementary and middle schools in the region have taken part in the project with heart and commitment. Donaukurier names the schools that play an important role in our community.

The next date for handing in the bottle caps is December 3rd. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the collected treasures can be returned to the known drop-off points. The focus is not only on bottle caps, but also on metal screw caps that come from beverage bottles and glasses. What is not desired are plastic screw caps, which unfortunately do not fit into the concept.

Good commitment to society

The idea of collecting everyday items such as bottle caps and screw caps for good causes not only offers a practical solution to waste problems, but also promotes social awareness among students. Smarticular emphasizes that commitment to society can take place in many ways, even without having to contribute large amounts of money. Every piece collected helps generate donations and support children in need.

This exciting campaign not only collected an enormous amount of material, but also raised awareness of social issues and the creative use of resources. The actions in schools and the support from local businesses show how much good can be achieved when community and commitment come together.
