Ceremonial inauguration: Wiesenwind children's home in Hemau is open!

A new star in the childcare sky is currently being celebrated in Hemau: the Wiesenwind children's home was officially inaugurated and sets new standards in early childhood care. The first kids have been living in the modern and bright building, which is right next to the Protestant Peace Church, since May 2023. The community's seventh daycare center offers space for happy play and learning on an area of almost 700 square meters.

The investment of around three million euros by the city of Hemau shows that high-quality care is important here. The provider of the facility, the BRK district association Regensburg, has brought Linda Yeboah, an experienced manager, on board who previously worked for the “Burgspatzen” in Laaber. With a capacity of two kindergarten groups with 25 children each and a daycare group with 12 places, a total of 62 childcare places, an important step is being taken to improve the childcare situation in the region.

Child support in the spotlight

The Wiesenwind children's home does not thrive in a vacuum. The federal government is on a mission to expand and promote child care in Germany. Support for the expansion of daycare centers is part of a comprehensive strategy that aims to give all children the best opportunities for education and participation. Since 2008, five investment programs with a total of 5.4 billion euros have been launched to create over 750,000 additional places for children up to school age. In the 5th program, further billions are earmarked for the creation of 90,000 new childcare places, which will not only significantly increase the childcare rate, but also support equal opportunities for all children, as can be read on bmbfsfj.bund.de.

The increased care rate for children under three is also a clear step forward, rising from 17.6% in 2008 to a remarkable 36.4% in 2023. The need for high-quality care is undeniably high. The expansion remains particularly important in western German states, as the number of children here is increasing more rapidly.

A look at the future

At the inauguration of Wiesenwind, the middle class has the opportunity to view the new rooms and outdoor facilities. This not only opens a new chapter in childcare, but also underlines the close cooperation between the municipality and the provider. The name “Wiesenwind” stands for the joy and liveliness that the educational concept embodies.

In times when the compatibility of family and work is becoming increasingly important, the Wiesenwind children's home represents a valuable resource for families in the area. With such modern approaches and committed staff, as Linda Yeboah shows in the management, the foundation for a better future is being laid.

The inauguration of the children's home is a step in the right direction that shows how crucial investment in early childhood education is for society as a whole. This means parents can go about their work with peace of mind while their children grow up and learn in a creative, loving environment.

We look forward to the positive developments that Wiesenwind and similar facilities will bring in the future.
