Allgäu Triathlon 2025: Closures and diversions in Immenstadt!

The Allgäu Triathlon is a real highlight in Oberallgäu and will take place this year from August 15th to 17th, 2025. With around 3,000 participants from different nations, the event is a magnet for sports enthusiasts from near and far. However, due to the popularity of the event, it is recommended that you prepare for increased traffic restrictions in the locations involved.

The communities of Immenstadt, Seifen, Niedersonthofen, Weitnau and Sibratshofen are particularly affected, where there are sometimes drastic road closures. Already on Friday, August 15th, traffic signs will block the entrance to certain sections of the road, as the Triathlon Bundesliga will also be held on that day. Imimnenstadt will be particularly affected at the Bahnhofstrasse and Montfortstrasse roundabout from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a diversion via Oberstaufen.

Traffic disruptions in the region

For drivers in Bühl am Alpsee, there is a complete closure of the town thoroughfares, so that residents are only allowed to pass partially. Another important point is the closed St2006, which is closed to traffic from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Closures have also been announced on Sunday in the event area around Immenstadt, Missen, Sibratshofen and Niedersonthofen. The situation is becoming more tense on the B308, while the country road to Missen-Willhams is also affected.

There are additional restrictions in Weitnau; Drivers should take the Hellengerst exit on the B12. The entrance to Niedersonthofen will be closed on Sunday from 8:15 a.m. to lunchtime. Residents have access here in exceptional cases, but the extended closure should still be observed. In addition, on the B19 to Immenstadt, the Stein or Rauhenzell exits cannot be used, which makes planning the journey to the event more difficult.

The triathlon in detail

The Allgäu Triathlon is the oldest of its kind in Germany and offers different distances: Sprint, Olympus and Classic, as well as relay options. The swimming part in the clear Alpsee is a must, followed by a challenging cycling and running route. This multi-stage sport requires not only endurance, but also strategic thinking, as the times for transitions between disciplines such as swimming, cycling and running are crucial to the overall result.

The term “triathlon” comes from Greek and means “three competitions”. Since the 1970s, this sport, which originated in Southern California, has spread to many countries and become accessible to athletes of all levels. Whether as part of individual competitions or in a team format, the fascination of triathlon captivates athletes, as does the Allgäu Triathlon, which offers the perfect setting this weekend in the picturesque Allgäu. For everyone who wants to spend a great weekend in the Allgäu, there is not only the sporting event to experience, but also many opportunities for cycling, hiking or simply enjoying the regional delicacies, such as the popular Allgäuer Kässpatzen.
