Traffic chaos in Oberallgäu: Massive road closures until 2026!

There are a variety of traffic reports and road construction projects in Cologne and the surrounding area that travelers should currently keep an eye on. Today, September 1, 2025, there are some important closures that drivers must be aware of.

Heising and Dietmannsried are particularly affected: Winklerstrasse will be closed here until September 11, 2026. There is also a construction site in Rettenberg that will take the OA3 near Rottach out of operation until September 26, 2025. And in Wildpoldsried and Kempten (Allgäu) the B12 near Leupolz will not be accessible until November 28, 2025. In Waltenhofen and Niedersonthofen, drivers must expect the OA22 to be closed until September 3, 2025. Such measures are necessary to modernize and maintain road infrastructure, such as [news.de].

Current construction sites and diversions

For travelers traveling in the region, diversions due to new construction sites could also play a role. On October 4th, 2024, district road 2 between Dietzen and Niedersonthofen will be completely closed for a few days until October 10th due to asphalting work. The diversion leads via Oberdorf, OA1 and OA5. The state road 2060 west of Linderhof Castle will also be inaccessible from October 1, 2024 to the border with Austria until November 22, 2024, with a diversion via Reutte as well as Ehrwald and Füssen.

In addition, Augsburger Straße in Kaufbeuren will be completely closed from October 14th to November 22nd, 2024 due to bridge replacement, with temporary paths for pedestrians and cyclists. Similar restrictions apply to numerous roads in the area, which makes traffic planning more difficult, as does the Allgäuer Newspaper clarifies.

Traffic forecasts and real-time information

Those preparing to use the road can rely on modern services. ADAC Maps offers comprehensive real-time monitoring of traffic flow and provides information about current disruptions and construction sites so that planning runs as smoothly as possible. When planning routes for a later date, forecasts are even created that predict future travel times based on the current traffic situation. This useful information is available for Germany and many neighboring holiday countries, as can be found on ADAC Maps.

In order to stay up to date, it is advisable to regularly check the latest traffic news before driving and consider alternative routes. In this way, you might be able to easily avoid some waiting times.
