On September 4, 2025, storm fronts will move across southern Germany and cause tense weather conditions. Up to 30 liters of precipitation per square meter can be expected in a short period of time, accompanied by gusts of up to 80 km/h and hail with grain sizes of up to 2 cm.

The current situation is being further fueled by a cold front from a low over the Norwegian Sea. In the affected regions the air is warm and humid and severe thunderstorms can be expected. The Weather Hazard Service warns that severe thunderstorms can be expected in Upper Swabia, Allgäu and Middle Franconia until Friday night. Rain amounts of up to 40 l/sqm could fall in a short time, as well as hurricane-like gusts with speeds of around 110 km/h. Tuesday is expected to be accompanied by further showers and thunderstorms, while on Friday precipitation can also be expected in regions such as Western Pomerania.
Later in the afternoon, the DWD confirmed the danger situation with advance warnings that apply from 4 p.m. until the early hours of Friday morning. The temperatures, which will initially be between 23 and 28 degrees on this day, will drop drastically as the thunderstorms approach.
