Concert of Hope: Music in Ruins on July 20th in St. Kassian
Music has the power to bring people together and provide hope in difficult times. A very special concert will take place on July 20, 2025 at 8 p.m. in the parish church of St. Kassian, St.-Kassians-Platz 1. Under the motto “…everything that was dear to us is now in ruins,” the ensemble invites you to musically reflect on the current political challenges and the collective despair in the world. Admission is free and the program promises a moving experience.
The concert, which is part of the annual cultural theme “Greater Weather Conditions”, addresses the feelings of helplessness and distress that many feel in the present. Works by famous composers such as Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Heinrich Schütz, Josef Gabriel Rheinberger and Steven Heelein will be heard. Instrumental pieces by violinist Franziska Kiesel will complement the performances and put the listeners in a contemplative mood. Through this performance, the Ensemble Art Vokal would like to give impulses for hope and reflection, to combat the challenges of our time and to promote peace. Regensburg.de reports that this event is also financially supported by the city of Regensburg.
Another sign of peace
In a similar spirit, a PEACE Concert recently took place as part of the European Choir Games and the Grand Prix of Nations in Aarhus, organized by INTERKULTUR. This impressive performance brought together more than 300 singers in a packed cathedral and served as a powerful symbol of peace, unity and mutual understanding. Loud INTERCULTURE President Günter Titsch emphasized how important music is as a memorial for peace in the world.
The event included not only moving songs, but also thought-provoking lyrics about peace. The highlight of the evening was the premiere of “An Explosion of Gratitude”, followed by the joint performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. The organizers want to send a strong message and use the power of music to inspire people around the world. This was the sixth concert in a series of INTERKULTUR's musical peace initiatives, which have been an integral part of their program since 2015.
Events like this make it clear how important music is in difficult times - it brings hope and connects even when the world seems to be falling apart. Be there when sounds of hope and reflection sound in St. Kassian on July 20th!
