Yuma Grimm remains a polar bear: bigger role expected in Regensburg!
The Eisbären Regensburg have announced that center forward Yuma Grimm will remain in the DEL2 for the coming season. The 22-year-old native of Rosenheim will be entering his third season with the Regensburg team. How Central Bavarian reports, coach Peter Flache is looking forward to giving Grimm a “bigger role” in the team. The player has made 124 appearances for the Eisbären in his career so far, collecting 8 goals and 13 assists.
Grimm was part of the successful team that won the DEL 2 title in 2024. He describes the championship season as a particularly harmonious moment in his career, whereas last season was marked by bad luck for him. The ice hockey professional gained international experience early on and previously played for the Straubing Tigers as well as EV Landshut and EHF Passau. He clearly feels comfortable in Regensburg and has never thought about a change.
A great talent
The return of Yuma Grimm is not only an important step for the polar bears themselves. According to an article on the Eisbären Regensburg official website eisbaeren-regensburg.com Grimm has received a U-21 development contract that will further support his development. As a talented striker, he already has a lot of experience: for example, he scored significant points in the U-17 and U-20 youth teams.
Grimm sees himself as well positioned for the new challenges with his strengths – a good overview, a hard shot, a strong understanding of the game and the ability to work in a team. EBR coach Max Kaltenhauser, who has known Grimm since his school days, also emphasizes his physical requirements. With the shirt number #22, Grimm will give the team a fresh impetus.
Preparation for the new season
In the coming weeks, Grimm will begin training to be fit for the season that begins in the DEL2 in the 2023/2024 season. The DEL2 is the second highest ice hockey league in Germany and is very popular. It will offer all clubs that operate their professional teams as corporations a platform to build on their sporting successes this season. The last champion team in the DEL2 was the Ravensburg Towerstars, who shone in 2023 under the great pressure of the league, just like other clubs are looking for a chance in the BL 2.
The Eisbären will play their first test match against Grimm’s hometown of Rosenheim with great anticipation. Grimm alone is particularly looking forward to this encounter. It remains exciting to see how the Eisbären Regensburg, with new and old talents, will present themselves in the upcoming season and whether they can repeat their success from the DEL 2 title. The fans can only hope that there will be a great spectacle, true to the motto: anticipation is the greatest joy!
