Farewell and new beginnings: Starnberg's woodpecker and Schäffler in focus!

The football scene in Starnberg is in turmoil. While SG Starnberg/Söcking (SGSS) is still feeling the after-effects of promotion to the district class, Radek Biernat's coaching team is tackling new challenges. The past games have shown that the squad cannot avoid making some adjustments. Top scorer Frederik Specht, who scored 25 goals last season, has left the SGSS and moved to SV Raisting. Specht, who began his football career at FT Starnberg, was afraid of rejecting the offer from Raisting because he specifically wanted to compete in a higher league. Assistant coach Sascha Grießhammer has already expressed his doubts as to whether Specht's performance can be replaced, while the newly minted Raistinger player has fit in well in his first league games.

Saying goodbye to Specht was not easy. “I felt comfortable in Starnberg,” explained the 23-year-old, who would have loved to develop further at the club. But a footballer's ambitions sometimes lead to difficult decisions, and the challenge in Raisting excites him immensely.

The returnee: Dominik Schäffler

To close the gap, Dominik Schäffler returns to Starnberg. The talented player, born in 2002, also began his career in Starnberg before gaining a foothold at TSV Gilching-Argelsried. His return is considered important – both from an emotional and sporting perspective. In an exciting comeback, Schäffler scored two goals in the district cup and showed that he has lost none of his skills.

But the return was not without challenges. Schäffler saw red in the game against Feldafing and will now be out for several weeks due to an ankle ligament injury. Despite this bad news, he remains optimistic: “I believe in the quality and potential of the team, even without my help,” he said.

The league opener: Second chance for the SGSS

The start of the league was anything but ideal for the SGSS. After two defeats in a row, they were able to achieve a 2-2 draw in their last game against TSV Herrsching. Goal scorer Schäffler opened the scoring in the 16th minute, followed by an equalizer from Michael Bachhuber. In the end, Maurice Markovic secured the second goal for Starnberg in the 86th minute. Assistant coach Grießhammer saw the draw as fair, while Herrsching's coach Sandro Pasalic praised his team dominance.

The coming games will be crucial for the SGSS to underpin their ambitions in the district class. With Schäffler at their back and the competition breathing down their necks, the team is challenged to utilize their potential and collect points.

How the transfers and injuries will affect the dynamics of the league remains to be seen. One thing is certain: there is a lot to watch in Starnberg and the coming period promises exciting football moments, while the club landscape in the amateur sector is constantly changing.
