Future for children: Starnberg Child Protection Association calls for more support!

On July 11, 2025, a white sausage breakfast organized by the Starnberg district association of the Child Protection Association took place in the family center. Many community representatives from the Starnberg district were guests to discuss the current challenges for children and families. The focus was on personal dialogue, and the participants had the opportunity to think about necessary support offers and design them together. According to merkur.de, the child protection association sees a growing demand for preventive offers that help to improve the living situation of families.

Everyone knows how important good support is in difficult times. Every year, around 2,500 people benefit directly from the Child Protection Association's services, while more than 10,000 people benefit indirectly from the services. Dr. Gunhild Kilian-Kornell, the association's CEO, made it clear that support for children and families should not depend on chance. She notes the urgent need to further strengthen this initiative and work towards reaching even more people.

Focus on prevention

The “Protect Children – Shape the Future” campaign was presented as part of the event. This initiative is intended to strengthen the connection between preventive services and improving the living environment for children and families. Martina Rusch, the educational director of the Child Protection Association, explained the role of the district association and how important it is to support children and families in emergency situations. Another focus is on the first months and years of children's lives, which are crucial for healthy and violence-free development, as the National Center for Early Help (NZFH) emphasizes.

However, financing such offers is becoming increasingly difficult. A large part of the costs are covered by donations and private foundations, which puts additional pressure on the continued support needed. The community must work together to find sustainable solutions.

Important networks in child protection

The importance of institutions such as the German Child Protection Association Bundesverband e.V. cannot be appreciated enough. This offers comprehensive advice for children, young people and parents and has over 425 local and district associations throughout Germany. The Federal Working Group for Child and Youth Protection has been committed to the rights and needs of young people since 1951 and gives voice to advocates of children's rights. Your voice is essential, especially at a time when protecting children seems increasingly important.

The Starnberg Child Protection Association would like to thank all participants in the white sausage breakfast for their interest and commitment. Only through joint action can we succeed in ensuring the long-term well-being of children and families.
