Autumn festival in the garden: anniversary with experiences for the whole family!

Autumn is just around the corner and with it the opportunity to experience the beauty of nature up close! On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, the Gartenwinkel-Pfaffenwinkel garden network invites you to the “Shovel & Fork Garden in Autumn” event in Oberland from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. This event marks the garden network's tenth anniversary year and promises a diverse range of activities for garden lovers and nature lovers.

In the picturesque setting of the Gartenwinkel, visitors can explore various gardens, parks and nurseries. Particularly noteworthy is the orchard circular trail with Heike Grosser at the Ammertaler Biohof in Oderding. This is where the knowledge of regional fruit varieties comes to life. The tomato exhibition with over 200 varieties at the Weberhof in Dießen-Dettenschwang is sure to attract many curious sweet tooths.

Diverse attractions for young and old

The event comes with a varied program that leaves nothing to be desired. The “Garden Island” near Pähl not only offers a breathtaking view of the Alpine panorama, but also an introduction to the creative design of paper and fabric flowers at the Wieshof in Marnbach. In the Roman kitchen and medicinal herb teaching garden in the Villa Rustica, Peiting, participants can immerse themselves in the world of ancient healing methods.

Anyone interested in permaculture is welcome at the Hofgarten Pfaffenwinkel in Unterhausen. Here you can learn about the sustainable management of gardens and orchards. The tours of the Schaufel & Gabel vegetable gardener in Habach at 1 p.m. and the StaudenSpatz plant nursery in Oberhausen at 2 p.m. offer further insights into the colorful world of plants and gardening techniques.

The end of the day takes place in Schacky Park on Lake Ammersee and in Bernrieder Park on Lake Starnberg, where you can end the autumn evening comfortably. For further information about the event, visit the Gartenwinkel website: www.gartenwinkel-pfaffenwinkel.de.

Sustainable projects and workshops

But that's not all! In the coming period there will also be an exciting workshop on the sustainable design of orchards and gardens, organized by the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve. The workshop focuses on creating harmonious ecosystems and promoting natural diversity. Participants should bring weatherproof clothing and hiking boots, as the meeting point is on Pirmasenser Straße / Finstertal junction in 76855 Annweiler am Trifels OT Sarnstall - here it is a 5 to 10 minute walk uphill to the orchard.

Stefan Pötzsch will lead the group and participation in this educational experience is free. Registrations are possible at the email address gaerten@pfaelzerwald.bv-pfalz.de. There is also parking at Annweiler-Sarnstall train station. The organizers of VielPfalz point out that there can always be changes to events, so it's best to inform us early!
