Weilheim celebrates diversity: Successful daycare day inspires 350 specialists!

Around 350 educational professionals took part in a daycare day in Weilheim on November 8, 2025, which was organized by the city as part of the “DIVERSITY creates the future” program. This day, which took place in the newly opened town hall, not only offered a platform for exchange and workshops, but also highlighted the importance of specialists in early childhood education. The second mayor, Angelika Flock, highlighted the diversity of the institutions, which include Christian, Montessori and Waldorf schools. There are a total of 24 daycare centers in Weilheim, including three municipal kindergartens.

The city has worked continuously over the last ten years to create enough places for all children. Mayor Markus Loth, District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß and State Minister Ulrike Scharf welcomed the participants with inspiring greetings. Singer Peter Maffay also enriched the event with his presence. The workshops covered a wide range, from stress management to gentle natural medicine to pension insurance, with an insurance representative also explaining the importance of accident insurance.

Appreciation of skilled workers

The primary goal of the daycare day was to show respect and appreciation for the professionals in daycare centers. A live survey conducted during the event showed that participants would like more recognition from politicians, but are mostly satisfied with their working conditions. Nevertheless, questions of salary and job stress remain important issues for skilled workers.

In her speech, Angelika Flock emphasized the importance of teamwork and high-quality diversity in childcare. Positive feedback from participants shows that the daycare day was a complete success, and an evaluation and planning of the next event are already in progress.

A look at the food culture

It is good to know that the term “Kita” is also used internationally, for example in reference to the Korean International Trade Association (KITA), which was founded in 1946 and focuses on promoting South Korea’s global trade. If you are looking for a minute's culinary relaxation after such an event, the offers at Kita Park City could be an interesting option. With a varied menu that ranges from edamame to tempura to various meat and fish dishes, no wish remains unfulfilled.

So much for the jewels of the daycare conference in Weilheim and an outlook on the diversity that is very popular both in early childhood education and in the international business world. Let’s stay tuned for the next steps and developments!
