Traffic chaos in Thannhausen: St2222 closed until June due to construction site!

Attention road users: In Thannhausen, extensive construction work is planned on the St2222 from next month. How news.de reported, the route between Veitserlbach and the WUG1 roundabout in Langlau will be completely closed from February 2, 2026, 7:30 a.m. to June 12, 2026, 5:00 p.m. This is happening as part of the road renewal work and affects both traffic from Pleinfeld to Gunzenhausen and in the opposite direction.

The sections are 3.6 kilometers long in total and the diversion takes you via the St2222 to Pleinfeld, then via the B2, Ellingen, B13, Gunzenhausen and B466 back to the St2222. Traffic management Bavaria is already warning of increased traffic volumes and possible traffic jams during this time. It is advisable to follow all advice from traffic authorities particularly carefully.

Construction sites in the region

But the St2222 is not the only construction site that drivers in the region should keep an eye on. The Schnelldorf junction will also be affected by construction work. How autobahn.de announced that a full closure in the direction of Nuremberg will be necessary on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 8 p.m. to Monday, March 31, 2025, until around 5 a.m. in order to demolish a partial structure that is no longer needed. Here too, diversions will be set up for the affected traffic connections. The Northern Bavaria branch of the federal Autobahn GmbH asks for increased caution and patience during this construction work.

The information on these construction sites comes largely from the Bavarian Workplace Integration System (ArbIS), such as bayerninfo.de explained. ArbIS is used by various construction site administrations and Autobahn GmbH to optimize the planning and execution of construction measures and provides detailed information about the exact locations of the construction sites, lane reductions and other traffic restrictions.

This makes traffic moderation much easier because all the necessary information is available long before construction begins. The Bayerninfo system also shows construction sites that are no longer active, so that road users are always well informed.

Anyone traveling in the region should find out about the diversions and restrictions in good time to avoid unpleasant surprises. After all, a well-planned route is the best route - and not just when driving on the motorway!
