A7 closure: Important diversions for travelers over the weekend!
The A7 motorway will be a particular focus of traffic planning in the coming days. From Friday, September 5th, 8 p.m. to Sunday, September 7th, 11 a.m., the A7 in the Niederaula area (Hersfeld-Rotenburg district) will be completely closed for necessary repair work. HNA reports that the closure affects both directions. The reason for these drastic measures is subsidence behind the southern abutment of the bridge over the B62, which urgently needs to be corrected.
Before the full closure, the A7 towards Würzburg will be reduced to one lane from 6:30 p.m., while the direction of Kassel will also only have one lane from 7:00 p.m. There is also bad news for travelers who wanted to go to the Mahlertshof rest area or the Richtgraben in the direction of Kassel: These parking spaces are no longer accessible from 6 p.m. The Großenmoor-Ost gas station and rest area will also close its doors from 7:00 p.m.
Detours and traffic guides
In order to direct traffic in the right direction, some diversions have been set up. For vehicles heading towards Kassel, the U73 detour applies, which leads via the L3176, Michelsrombach, Fraurombach, L3140, Queck, Rimbach and Ober-Wegfurth to the B62 in Niederjossa and from there back to the A7 junction Niederaula. Drivers traveling to Würzburg follow the U84, which leads in the opposite direction to the A7 junction Hünfeld/Schlitz.
These traffic measures are particularly important because not only local traffic problems are to be expected on the A7. Current news from stau-a7.de show that various traffic jams and stalled traffic have already been reported in other areas of the A7. For example: between Am Forsthaus and Bad Brückenau-Volkers, where there was a delay of 14 minutes, or in the direction of Kässel near Guxhagen. Traffic was slow but no delays were recorded here.
Traffic under pressure
The A7 has established itself as an important north-south connection in recent years and continues to make road users sweat. Traffic jams are inevitable, especially during holiday periods or on Friday afternoons and Sundays. A look at the planned expansion measures shows that additional lanes will be added between Bordesholm and Hamburg-Nordwest and other sections of the A7 in the coming years in order to improve traffic flow.
With all of these disruptions, it is advisable to always keep an eye on current traffic reports. Visitors to the region should prepare particularly well for their next trips to ensure a relaxed trip.
