Gersfeld, Deutschland - In a surprising turn, the SKG Gersfeld ended its cooperation with VfR Stadt Bischofsheim. A year ago, before the beginning of the 2024/25 season, 15 Gersfeld players came to Bischofsheim after the club was unable to provide an independent team due to a lack of players. Planned syndictions with Hessian clubs failed, and the need for a legal regulation for such cooperations turned out to be problematic. Now, however, the signs are at the beginning again.

SKG Gersfeld did not register a senior team for the coming season. This is a direct consequence of the personnel situation in the youth field, which is characterized by less follow -up players. Michael Weinig, who has been the coaching office for 16 years, sees the reasons for the decision in the geographical location and the financial aspects. That sounds easier than it is ultimately: it is a complete change of players, which is regarded as a preliminary transition solution.

The return to Gersfeld

The wish is clear: a return to Hessen is sought as soon as the situation allows. In the future, four to five home games in Gersfeld will be planned, while a second senior team will be launched in the Rhön 2 district class. This is trained by Julian and Patrick Klein, whereby 15 players have currently promised, two more are still on the brink.

The response to the new regulation is consistently positive. Rather, many players are drawn to the Bischofsheim side, which also supports the change. The youth teams of the SKG Gersfeld continue their commitment to the JSG Vorderrhön, where they provide more than 50 children - only Thalau has more.

To achieve this, strategic decisions and personnel measures are necessary to strengthen the basis and promote talents. The official game year begins on July 1, and with a new season there are also many changes. The transfer period lasts until the end of August and numerous players are expected.
