Würzburg invites you: Go and celebrate together at the action day on July 9th!
An exciting event is coming up in Würzburg! The action day “Let’s walk part of the way together!” will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. instead, organized by Würzburg University Hospital in collaboration with local self-help groups. It starts at 4:00 p.m. at the Himmelspforten retreat house, Mainaustraße 42. A highlight will be the barrier-free walk along the banks of the Main in Würzburg.
What can participants expect? In addition to an informal exchange with other affected people and relatives, there is also a great garden party in the park of the retreat house after the walk. Here, those present can gather interesting information over small food, drinks and information stands from self-help groups. If the weather is bad, the walk will unfortunately be canceled, but the event will take place indoors, sheltered from the rain.
Registration and participation
Registration is required to take part in this free day – both for self-help groups and for guests. Those interested are asked to register by email at Selbsthilfe@ukw.de. It's a great opportunity to get to know the diversity and support that self-help groups offer in Germany. It is estimated that there are around 70,000 to 100,000 self-help groups in our country for a wide variety of illnesses and impairments, such as BAG self-help reported.
The day of action is not only an opportunity to exchange ideas with others, but also reflects the German self-help network, which is based on more than 300 self-help organizations operating nationwide. Close cooperation between clinics and self-help groups ensures long-term support for those affected.
A good thing for the community
This day is an invitation to everyone to seek exchange and experience first-hand the possibilities of self-help. One thing is certain: it’s easier together! Who knows, maybe someone will discover new tips or ways to cope with their situation. It is obvious that self-help is increasingly using digital media to ensure better networking - in keeping with modern times. Digital tools are already being used in research and communication to provide broader support for rare diseases.
The Würzburg University Hospital and the committed self-help groups cordially invite everyone to spend this day with them and walk part of the journey together. Let's take advantage of the opportunities that self-help offers us!
