Wunderino-Arena Kiel, Deutschland - On April 11, 2025, the Gregorian choir appeared in the Wunderino Arena in Kiel and transformed the location into a true rock cathedral. The concert began with the impressive instrumental intro from "One Night in Bangkok", which tore the numerous fans from the seats. Eight classically trained singers who performed in glittering monk cowl presented their skills with a combination of classic vocals and modern rock and pop songs.
The combination of laser light and fog machines caused a spectacular atmosphere. In the course of the evening, the singers interpreted timeless hits such as "Scarborough Fair" and "Hymn". During the song "Crying in the Rain", the artists wore acoustic guitars and were equipped with umbrellas, which led to a special visual performance. Particularly noteworthy was Amelia Brightman, who was wearing a disco ball, while performing the song "One of Us".
entry into the world of Gregorian music
Gregorian has a long and successful story that started in 1989 when Frank Peterson visited the San Lorenzo de El Escorial monastery in Spain. This inspiration led to the first connection of Gregorian music with modern entertainment music, a concept that Peterson implemented for the first time with Michael Cretu in the Enigma project. The first album, McMxc a.d., was released in 1990 and is considered the most successful German album of its time, with over 10 million records sold in 41 countries, including 57 times platinum and 45 times gold.
in 1999 Peterson published the first Gregorian album "Masters of Chant". Since then, the group has released 21 CDs and 9 DVDs. The selection of the songs takes place with great care to ensure that they match the Gregorian tone scale. Gregorian's repertoire includes almost 300 titles, including works by Carl Orff as well as pop standards and rock classics from Metallica and Coldplay.
