Rothenbaum sensation: Lois Boisson and Eva Lys in tennis fever!

There is already great excitement in Hamburg because the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open officially started yesterday and will bring exciting matches at Rothenbaum from July 13th to 20th, 2025. How NDR Hamburg reports, the tournament will be accompanied by daily videos that take viewers up close and personal into the tennis stadium.

The focus of the first few days will be on the two German players Eva Lys and Noma Noha Akugue. Lys, known for her good skills on the court, reached the round of 16 at the Grand Slam in Melbourne six months ago and has stood out as the face of the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open. The Hamburg native is also highly motivated because her first round match is on Tuesday – a real home game for her!

Stars and surprises

A big highlight is undoubtedly the French player Lois Boisson. After her strong performance at the French Open, she is popular with fans and received a wildcard for the tournament. The Hamburg Tennis Association highlights that Boisson will be in action from July 14th to 20th and it will be exciting to see if she can take the title at Rothenbaum. But other well-known faces are also at the start, such as Tatjana Maria and Laura Siegemund.

The participants come from different countries, including Xinju Wang from China and Dayana Yastremska from Ukraine. With six German players in the main field, the national participation is high, even though Tessa Johanna Brockmann from Uetersen unfortunately didn't make it further in the qualification.

More than just a tennis tournament

The MSC Hamburg Ladies Open is not only intended to offer exciting games, but is also an important event to promote women's sports. A special supporting program is also planned. For example, there is an exhibition game between Tommy Haas and Dominic Thiem. There will also be a discussion event on July 19th entitled “VOICES ON COURT – THE HAMBURG EDITION”, which will focus on participation and equality in sport.

And it's not just adults who are offered a great experience: children under 15 have free entry on the final day, making the event accessible to the whole family.

Tickets start from just 25 euros and the entire event will be broadcast in almost 200 countries. With a new main sponsorship from the shipping company MSC and a packed program, Hamburg is once again setting an example as an important tennis capital in Germany.

A quick look at the current games and the players shows that a lot of excitement and talent can be expected on the courts at the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open. Stay tuned for more updates!
