Summer concert in Arheilgen: A festival of sounds and water worlds!

On June 22, 2025, a unique summer concert by the Eintracht 1870 e.V. choir took place in the Kreuzkirche in Darmstadt-Arheilgen. Under the motto “Washed with all waters – worldwide”, the focus was on the versatility and symbolic meaning of water. Szofi Bertalan, the first chairwoman of the choir, welcomed numerous guests, including the pastor Barbara Themel and the honorary chairwoman Uschi Hübner, and emphasized the role of water as a source of inspiration.

The concert evening not only offered classical compositions, but also a space for one's own reflection on the importance of water in our lives. The temperature was high, but the audience didn't let that dampen their good mood. Refreshing drinks were served before the concert and during intermission to temper the heat. The evening was moderated by Jörg Loring, who gave the hint “Water March” right at the beginning.

Musical diversity

The musical part was carried out by the Eintracht Choir under the direction of Matthias Seibert and the “Little Orchestra” from Darmstadt, conducted by Christine Waldheim. These talented groups presented a varied program that reflected not only the longing for the sea and water, but also the power of music that can flow and touch like water.

Special attention was paid to sounds and their influence on people. The Teacher Island reported that people consist of around 70% water, and the sound of music not only affects emotions, but also the state of health. Mozart, for example, contributes to a calming state of mind, while harder sounds such as heavy metal can cause more unrest. These insights were impressively underlined by the performances and the choice of music.

Institutional support and future outlook

Many thanks went to the donors who support the choir's work and thus contribute to the realization of such cultural events. Eintracht is pleased about the combined forces of active and inactive members who keep the choir tradition alive. Art and culture in conjunction with the vital element of water fuel people's desires and thoughts. In this summer atmosphere it became clear once again how music, like water, can inspire and enrich lives.

In addition, those present that evening also found references to Bruno Philippe, an internationally celebrated cellist who shapes the music scene with his impressive achievements and commitments. From his performances in renowned concert halls to masterful collaborations with other artists, he shows how music can connect across borders, similar to the water in our lifelines.

It was an evening that not only reached the ear, but also the heart and demonstrated that water is not only an essential source of life, but also a source of inspiration that connects us all. For many, this concert evening was a pleasure that will be remembered - in the spirit of the words: “We are all washed up with all water”.
