Major cleaning of the subway stations: Hauptwache and Konstablerwache will soon shine!

In the coming period there will be a lot of action in the Frankfurt subway stations Hauptwache and Konstablerwache. While the summer holidays are in full swing, the Frankfurt am Main transport company (VGF) is providing a breath of fresh air: the B levels of both stations are undergoing comprehensive basic cleaning. This means that not only the floor surfaces, but also ceilings, walls, columns and furniture, including benches and display cases, are brought into shape. That's what she reports FAZ.

The work began this week and is expected to be completed by mid-August. In order not to disrupt traffic, the cleaning operations mainly take place at night - which is certainly a good idea for the many commuters and travelers!

Important transport hubs in view

The Hauptwache and Konstablerwache stations are important transport hubs for subway, S-Bahn and tram lines and therefore gateways to the city center. Head of Transport Wolfgang Siefert points out the importance of these stations: They are essential for the quality of life as well as trade, gastronomy and tourism in the region.

But that's not all. In addition to cleaning, damage repairs are also carried out. In the Hauptwache station, defective stairs and glass elements on the parapets are being repaired, among other things. Natural stone elements at the entrance to the Hauptwache should also be renewed. The VGF is therefore taking the initiative to improve the appearance of the two stations, as can be read on the VGF website: vgf-ffm.de.

A look into the future

The VGF doesn't just have cleaning work on its agenda. From January 1, 2024, it will take over economic ownership of the subway stations and plans to continue investing in technical systems, elevators and orientation systems. The Willy-Brandt-Platz station is also already undergoing basic cleaning as part of a comprehensive redesign, which is linked to the cleaning work at the other stations.

Frankfurter Disposal and Service GmbH (FES) will carry out the cleaning work, and smaller repairs at other stations are also being planned. As part of these basic cleaning measures, the stations Eschenheimer Tor, Höhenstraße, Bornheim Mitte, Seckbacher Landstraße, Holzhausenstraße, Grüneburgweg and Miquel-/Adickesallee will also be included in the cleaning operations. frankfurt.de informs about the upcoming work and its scope.
