Volunteer hero Brigitte Remmert is leaving the café after 27 years!
In a moving farewell, Brigitte Remmert from Neuhof (Fulda district) was given a dignified farewell in the Café Jakobusbrunnen. After 27 years of volunteer work helping homeless people with the Caritas Association for the Fulda and Geisa regions, she has invested over 12,000 hours of her time to support people in need. This commitment not only helped many people, but also made the café a place of encounter, warmth and humanity East Hesse News describes.
Brigitte Remmert was an indispensable point of contact for people in difficult life situations. For almost three decades, she has left her mark on Café Jakobusbrunnen by actively participating in Christmas celebrations for the needy and single people and always ensuring that there was no shortage of food and drink. Whether it was jam sandwiches, cake donations or sausages and coffee – she was the good soul of the café.
A warm farewell
At the farewell, numerous guests, volunteers and full-time employees gathered to express their thanks and recognition for Remmert's tireless efforts. Division manager Janina Wübbelsmann emphasized the importance of her commitment and wished her all the best for the future. As a token of appreciation, Remmert received a gift and souvenir photos that will remind her of her time in the café.
A particularly emotional moment came when Remmert recalled a gesture from guests who sent her a bouquet of flowers during a hospital stay. These gestures show how much she is valued in the community.
A new phase of life
At the age of 57, after working as an executive assistant at Kali and Salz, Remmert was looking for a meaningful voluntary role and found it at Caritas. Now she is looking forward to the new phase of her life in which she wants to go on vacation and has plans to continue to be involved in knitting in her home community. The knitted goods are donated to a good cause and show that their altruistic spirit lives on in the pension.
A remarkable personality like Brigitte Remmert leaves a huge void at Café Jakobusbrunnen, but her legacy of humanity and caring will continue to live in the memory of the many people she touched. She not only gave many people a piece of joy, but also proved that you are never too old to do something good.
