Financial knowledge and cinema: YoungFinance inspires young people in Fulda!
A refreshing event that combines financial knowledge with entertaining films recently took place in beautiful Fulda. At VR Bank Fulda's “YoungFinance x Wiesenflimmern”, an evening dedicated to financial education, young people not only had the opportunity to find out about financial topics, but also to end the evening at an open-air cinema. The event was intended to appeal to 18 to 30 year olds and was held in the picturesque Hannheinehof in Fulda-Niederrode, known for the popular spritzer brand “Wiesenkiez”.
The evening was opened by Erlinda Asanaj from the YoungFinance team, followed by an informative lecture by David Horn and Noé-Li Schwab. Their goal was to make it easier to get started with complex topics such as stocks, ETFs and modern banking. At a time when interest in financial education is increasing, especially among young adults, this event offers a valuable platform to reduce inhibitions and create more self-confidence in dealing with money.
Trending financial education
And the current Junge-Leute-Finanzstudie from Swiss Life Germany actually shows that the trend towards financial education is clearly on the rise among Generation Z. More and more 18- to 30-year-olds are interested in financial products, be it in the form of fixed-interest securities, investment funds or even cryptocurrencies. What is particularly interesting is that 57 percent of young people plan to invest part of their retirement savings in stocks - a clear difference from previous generations such as Generation X, of which only 39 percent want to do so.
Despite the increasing interest, a study by ING shows that there are still large gaps in education. Although 74 percent of those surveyed know the term “inflation rate,” only 18 percent can give an approximate figure. A worrying result that could have implications for savings and investment decisions.
Practical solutions for young financial decisions
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of Cora Dücker's new banking app, which is intended to enable young people to manage their finances on a mobile and self-determined basis. The ability to plan for your own long-term future is more important than ever. With a clear focus on honest, equal advice, the YoungFinance team wants to ensure that the next generation enters the world of finance well-equipped.
After the official program, which ended at 5 p.m., the participants were able to network with the team over snacks and cool drinks and exchange ideas about what they had learned. The evening ended with an open-air film evening in which short films were shown that took up the motto “Bittersweet” and addressed various realities of life.
The event in Fulda was a successful mix of information and entertainment, showing how important it is to make financial knowledge accessible to younger generations. At a time when responsible investing and sustainable investments are becoming increasingly important, the need for better understanding and more information is becoming increasingly urgent.
