Frank Thiemann: A life for security in Fulda ends in unrest

After 44 years of service, Frank Thiemann is taking a well-deserved retirement. On October 31, 2025, the time has finally come and his path leads him into “unrest,” as he calls it himself. However, Thiemann remains determined and active and plans to continue to be part of the community. In doing so, he remains true to his motto, which has guided him throughout his entire career as a police officer: to always be the person who helps and protects the citizens of Fulda.

Thiemann looks back on an impressive career in which he has accompanied many renowned personalities, including Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel. Three years ago he moved to the Fulda city guard, where he quickly became a familiar face in the city. In this role he continued his passionate commitment to people, which earned him much recognition. He is particularly proud of the floor plaque in front of the city guard, which symbolizes the close connection between the city and the police East Hesse News reported.

An active life in retirement

Although Thiemann is retiring, he makes it a point to stay active. He plans to spend his free time meaningfully by getting involved in various clubs and staying active in carnival. There he will continue to be responsible for the safety of the cars during the move - an area in which he has already gained a lot of experience.

There is also news for Thiemann in his private life: He has recently moved in with his partner and is now the proud owner of two motorcycles. In this new phase of his life, he would like to properly celebrate the many memories he has made during his service. When he said goodbye, he expressed his gratitude for the many encounters and experiences he was able to gain during his years of police work.

An outlook on the challenges ahead

What will security look like in Fulda after his withdrawal? The challenges remain diverse, and it is important that the city guard and the police continue to work well together in the future. Thiemann has always emphasized the importance of standing together as a community and caring for one another. He pursues his voluntary work with the conviction that we can all find our strength and power in difficult times.

Based on the words of Psalm 46, which describes the strength and refuge of God, Thiemann will also trust in this confidence in his new phase of life: “God is our refuge and strength, ever-present help in times of need,” as it is written in the verses. This clear stance will continue to reinforce his belief that help, safety and community should go hand in hand, no matter where you are. So Frank Thiemann says goodbye to his long time with the police and looks hopefully to what is to come.
