Rhön Special Cup 2025: Cycling fun around Fulda for everyone!
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, everything will revolve around cycling in the Johannesberg sports center. The RC 07 Fulda and the SG Johannesberg invite you to the “Rhön Special Cup 2025”, a sporting event that offers many exciting options for both leisure cyclists and sporty altitude collectors. The numerous routes are suitable for everyone who enjoys traveling on two wheels - from family trips to sporting challenges.
The tours are between 20 and 110 kilometers long and offer something for everyone. The flat 20 kilometer family tour is ideal for children, while experienced riders can look forward to the more demanding 110 kilometer route with around 1,200 meters of altitude. If you love adventure, you can go on the 50 kilometer long gravel/MTB route, which can only be navigated using GPS.
Food and safety
Your physical well-being is well taken care of: there are refreshment points along the route with fruit, water and snacks. After arrival, participants can expect a culinary selection with home-baked cakes and savory dishes. To ensure everything runs smoothly, roadside assistance and paramedics are on hand, so everyone can concentrate on having fun.
Registration takes place either on site or in advance by bank transfer. Anyone can take part in the event for just 6 euros, or 5 euros for BDR members and groups of 10 or more. Particularly pleasing: children and young people up to the age of 18 cycle for free. Start times are from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for the longer routes and until 11:00 a.m. for the family tour, with control closing at 3:00 p.m. In addition, the five teams with the most participants will be honored, and a raffle with attractive prizes will provide additional excitement.
Around the Fulda cycle path
Fulda's surroundings don't just have to offer competition. The cycle tour along the Fulda from the Wasserkuppe to the mouth delights cyclists with a variety of events. In Fulda, for example, the Night Skating Experience takes place from April to October, and in Melsungen the wine festival is celebrated at the end of August with free concerts and culinary delicacies. Kassel has its city festival and the traditional “Zissel” folk festival, while Bad Hersfeld holds its festival in the monastery ruins and commemorates the long history of its “Lullus Festival”.
The Fulda cycle path offers spectacular views and sights to discover. One stage, for example, leads through the castle park to Fulda, where the impressive cathedral is a highlight. We continue through charming landscapes towards Bad Hersfeld, with rest stops at historically significant places such as the Haydau Monastery.
