There is a festive atmosphere in Fulda: The Christmas market opened on Friday, November 21, 2025 and was already well attended on Saturday evening. The cravings for roasted almonds, mulled wine and bratwurst were awakened among locals and visitors alike. Many people strolled along the festively illuminated streets and enjoyed the picturesque backdrop, which was enriched by, among other things, an impressive Ferris wheel.
The Christmas market extends until December 23rd, 2025, although it will be closed on November 23rd. Five different markets invite you to experience the magic and splendor of winter. A particularly attractive place is the University Square, where the large Christmas pyramid creates a lively, cheerful atmosphere. Anyone looking for something special will find an atmospheric setting to linger in the winter forest at the town parish church.
Variety of offers
The museum courtyard impresses with its rustic juggler atmosphere and the regional market at the butter market tempts with craftsmanship and regional delicacies. New this year: a 15-meter-high Ferris wheel on Rabanusstrasse, which provides spectacular views of the city center. The children's Christmas land, not to be forgotten, offers lots of fun for the little guests with a carousel, magic, music programs and the opportunity to ice skate on Karlchen's ice rink.
The cultural highlights are also not neglected. Visitors can expect tower brass, organ concerts and performances by choirs and music clubs. A special date for singing together on Cathedral Square on December 13th should not be overlooked. The winter forest will also remain open until December 30th, where you can warm up with a cup of mulled wine. The Winter Varieté brings international artists to the baroque Orangery from December 26th to 30th.
